(FURNAZ)
The one grand capital world of the ancient Pan-Galactic Republic sits dormant and forgotten, scars across it's surface and buildings burnt and collapsed.
The shattered remains of it's inhabitants live nomadic scavenger lifestyles with minimal contact from the outside galaxy.
The planet's sun is an A class star, burning white.
It has reached the end of it's life cycle.
An ancient civilian vessel barely holds and orbit above the battered and broken world.
"Solar energy output is up by 23%, what could it mean?"

(GAIKAKE - KYATEKO SYSTEM)
The Grand Prophet presides over a meeting of the Holy Council regarding raiders around the outskirting systems of the Empire. Vicious debate is underway, as some of the council members are declaring all heathens as inferior, while others argue that they should be enlightened. In comes a member of the High Guard, bearing a message. The Grand Prophet silences the room with a raise of his hand, allowing the now bowing Guardsman to speak.
"What is it you have brought, Taelos?"
"News, my Holiness. The Mekanist tells of prophecy being foretold by the ancient stones."
"Prophecy? In regards to what?"
"The Grand Capital of the Gods. He has translated very little of the holy words, but believes it to be telling about the destruction of Fyrnak in the impending future, your gracious."
The Hall of the Elders remains silent, for a time, until the Grand Prophet speaks once more.
"Prepare a scouting fleet, Taelos. Travel to the holy lands to discover what the sacred words tell us. The dawn of a new age may be upon us."
"Of course, your honorable. At your command."
Taelos exits the hall and makes his way back to the Citadel of Valor.

(MARKOLL)
A supply convoy of relatively new freighters has lined up to leave for Furnaz.
"Preparation sequence complete."
"Acknowledged."
"Affirmative"
Blue rifts begin to form in front of the six freighters as they shred into the realm of subspace.
A few minutes later similar blue tears in space form in orbit of Furnaz, though only four ships exit.
One of the ships drifts off course and explodes.
"Curse these drive systems, why can't we make them as safe as the legends?"

[Qaenrough]
Research ships on the outer edges of the empire line up bu the thousands aimed at the slightly visible dot in space, Prime Galactus, watching as the Furnazi homeworld's death-clock ticks passed eleven.

(FURNAZ)
The three freighters sit in orbit of Furnaz, waiting to be cleared to dock at the single remaining space elevator.
A violent coronal mass ejection lashes out from the star and scorches the innermost world.
